Fractional go-to-market for ANZ

Test Australia and New Zealand before you commit to it.

Revfraction gives overseas SaaS and IT services companies a senior, in-market go-to-market lead on a part-time basis, plus the partners, distributors and customers to talk to. Prove there is a market before you hire a team, register an office or sign a lease.

The problem

Most ANZ launches stall for the same three reasons

Australia and New Zealand look like an easy next market: English-speaking, stable and well served by cloud. In practice, overseas vendors tend to trip over the same things.

Hiring before validating

A full-time country manager, an entity and an office are a big, slow bet to place before you know which segment will buy, at what price, and through which route.

Selling from the wrong time zone

Calls at 2am, no one at the local events, and no one who knows the buyers. ANZ is a relationship market, and relationships are hard to build remotely.

Missing the channel

Much of the ANZ IT market buys through managed service providers, resellers, integrators and distributors. Without the right partners, a good product struggles to get in the door.

Services

A local go-to-market capability, without the full-time cost

Engagements are fractional, typically two to three days a week, and scale up or down with what the market tells us. No long lock-in contracts.

About

Hi, I'm Marius van der Merwe

I founded Revfraction after more than 25 years in B2B technology sales, much of it helping companies from somewhere else succeed in Australia and Asia Pacific. I have been the person on the ground for vendors, distributors and service providers, and I have seen what makes an ANZ launch work and what quietly kills it.

Most recently I established an overseas IT services company's Australian presence from scratch, building the local sales motion and securing its first Australian customer. Before that I led APAC sales across seven markets for a European customer experience software vendor, and spent years on the channel side working with managed service providers, cloud partners and distribution.

  • Market entry from zeroFirst local customer and sales motion for an offshore IT services firm
  • APAC sales leadershipSeven markets, partner and direct, with ARR growth of 36% and 15.8% in consecutive years

FAQ

Common questions

What does "fractional" mean in practice?

You get a senior go-to-market lead for part of the week, usually two to three days, rather than a full-time employee. The time flexes with the stage you are at: more during launch, less once partners and a local hire are carrying the load.

Do we need an Australian or New Zealand company to start?

Not to start. Many vendors sell into ANZ from an overseas entity, or through a distributor or partner who handles local billing. We will tell you when the business case justifies a local entity, and what it involves, so you can get proper legal and tax advice at the right time.

Direct sales or channel partners: which is right for us?

It depends on your deal size, how technical the product is and who your buyers already trust. Part of the first month is working that out. Often the answer is a hybrid: a few direct lighthouse customers, and partners for reach.

How quickly will we see results?

Expect real conversations with customers and partners in the first month and qualified pipeline within the first 90 days. B2B sales cycles in ANZ are similar to other mature markets, so closed revenue usually takes longer. We do not promise revenue in 30 days.

Do you work under our brand?

Yes. To your customers and partners I represent your company, with your email, collateral and CRM. Revfraction is how we contract, not what your market sees.

Can you help us hire a permanent team later?

Yes. Recruitment is part of the service: designing the role, benchmarking local pay, finding and shortlisting candidates, then handing over the customers, partners and playbook so your new hire starts with momentum.

What does it cost?

It depends on scope and days per week, and it is a fraction of the all-in cost of a senior full-time hire. Book a discovery call and you will get a clear proposal after we understand your product and goals.
